TODD: EMILY IT’S A SOD STORY , TODAY. THIS IS GOOD NEWS. THE INSIDE OF POLAR PARK IS LOOKING EVEN MORE LIKE A BALLPARK TAKE A LOOK INSIDE, SOD WAS TRUCKED IN OVERNIGHT, AND LAID ON THE INFIELD TODAY, HERE AT THE FUTURE HOME OF THE WORCESTER RED SOX. NEXT IT’LL BE ROLLED OUT TO FOUL TERRITORY AND THE OUTFIELD. THE SOD COMES FROM THE SAME TURF FARM IN NEW JERSEY THAT FENWAY PARK HAS USED FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS. THE GRASS IS BEING INSTALLED BY SPORTS TURF SPECIALTIES, WHICH IS BASED IN WRENTHAM. THEY’VE PUT DOWN THE SOD AT FENWAY SINCE 200 THE WORK TODAY IS A SIGN THAT SOON, THE WOOSOX WILL PLAY BALL HERE. >> WE’RE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE GREEN HERE. IT’S A HUGE MILESTONE FOR US AND ONE WE NEEDED TO GET IN AHEAD OF THE WINTER, BECAUSE WE NEEDED TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE’S A FERTILIZATION PROGRAM, THAT THERE ARE NUTRIENTS WITHIN THE SOD, AHEAD OF, YOU KNOW, FROSTY TEMPERATURES TODD THE SOD IS BEING LAID ON : TOP OF A STATE OF THE-ART IRRIGATION AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM, WHICH IS COMPOSED OF A 90% SAND, 10% PEAT SOIL MIXTURE. THAT WILL ENABLE THE FIELD TO DRAIN QUICKER, AND HELP THE WOOSOX AVOID RAINOUTS, WHICH WERE A BIG PROBLEM OVER THE YEARS IN PAWTUCKET. AS OF NOW, THE FIRST GAME IS EXPECTED IN APRIL OF NEXT YEAR
